For those that never experienced the original it is a must buy, but even for those with fond memories of the glorious Vanillaware classic, this package is more than worth a second dip. Odin Sphere Leithrasir tells five such tales, all intertwined into an overarching volume, each story glowing with heartwarming sincerity and clarity.

Odin Sphere was quite pretty back in 2007, but Leifthrasir’s 1080p graphics make every frame a work of art I want to hang on my wall.

Even the graphics manage to hurt it, as the PS2 version suffers from terrible, unforgivable slowdown and the worst load times since Shadowman. I can’t recommend it enough, and it stands head and shoulders above other remakes on how to get the job done. This is NOT a remastered version; this is actually a remake of the original, with enhanced graphics and updated combat mechanics. The original was great; the remake is far better (and as a bonus, this actually includes the classic version as well, if you so wished to try it). Odin Sphere Leifthrasir is a masterpiece of game design, and one of the forgotten gems of the PS2 era. Odin Sphere is a farming-intensive game, plain and simple, and if not for the gorgeous production values it would have raked in mediocre scores from every reviewer around.
