Jace Prescott, one of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott’s older brothers, died Thursday morning at the age of 31 from unknown causes. Jason Pugh, assistant athletic director for media relations at Northwestern State, where Jace played on the offensive line from 2008-10, confirmed the death. Prescott is survived by Tad and Dak, along with their father Nathaniel. Jace was the middle of three Prescott brothers, between oldest brother Tad and Dak, who is 26.

Jace Prescott played three seasons at Northwestern State, starting all 11 games in his final season in 2010.

Prescott played for the Demons from 2008 through 2010. Their mother, Peggy, passed away in 2013 from colon cancer. At the time of his playing career at Northwestern State, he was 6-foot-6, 343-pounds. Sadly, NFL star Dak Prescott’s older brother Jace Prescott passed away on Thursday, April 23. All three played football at Haughton High School in Haughton, La.

The Dallas Cowboys organization released a statement voicing their support for their grieving quarterback. “It is with great sadness and support that we share the news of the passing of Jace Prescott today,” the Cowboys stated. They lost their mother, Peggy, to colon cancer in 2013. The brothers shared a close bond, especially following the death of their mother in 2013. At the time of the initial report, a cause of death was not stated for Jace, 31. The older Prescott was an offensive lineman a decade ago at Northwestern State in Louisiana, where the Prescott brothers Tad, Jace and Dak grew up.
